Our goal in breeding is to breed the best dogs possible whether they live their lives in a show home or a companion home. Our puppies are very well socialized, veterinary examined, vaccinated and on a proper deworming program. As we want to have healthy puppies for you to enjoy for many years.
My husband has owned danes since the 70’s and together we have owned danes since 1989. We don’t think we are experts on the breed by any means! We are always learning and we will continue to learn for many years to come from breeders/exhibitors/mentors that have been in the breed long before us!
OUR DANES ALLOW US TO LIVE IN THE HOUSE WITH THEM!
Because of our love for our puppies, we screen adoptive parents, which enables us to place our puppies in the best possible homes. At Calypso Danes our new puppy owners become lifetime family. We always love to hear from them and they know that they are welcome to call us at ANY time.
We are COLOR ETHICAL breeders. All pups are house raised with lots of love and attention(including lots of play with our 7 grandchildren, 5 of which live with us full time). Our Vet family thinks that we are, at times, over protective parents, but that’s ok.
My husband, Bryon and I with our 3 wonderful 2-legged kiddos live in SE Ohio in the small town of Baltimore. We are out in the country with plenty of room for all our children to run; the 2 & 4 legged ones…..:) Together as a family, we all spend time with each of the pups to ensure they are well socialized with men, women and children so that they are ready for their new families.
Welcome to my wonderful Great Dane world. I have been very blessed with my human and Great Dane family. I believe each one is a gift from God sent straight from Heaven made special for each family. Everyone thinks that they have the best Great Dane and none of them are wrong because they are all amazing. Dogs offer us unconditional love. Dogs can improve our daily life. Dogs teach our families to love, care, and share. I try to share the joy and love they bring my home through my pictures and videos.
Shalein took her dedication of the betterment of Great Danes beyond breeding and showing when she graduated with a doctorate degree from Colorado State University in veterinary medicine. While in veterinary school she placed a strong emphasis on genetics and reproduction and was awarded three AKC scholarships for her Great Dane genetics research. After graduation, she began practicing small animal medicine with a special interest in canine reproduction. Today, you can find her as part of the staff at Dill Veterinary Hospital in Southern California.
CHROMADANE is a strict GDCA CODE OF ETHICS BREEDER. We breed working (service & therapy) & “dual ring” Danes. Our breeding stock competes and wins in AKC (& FCI) conformation shows as well as obedience, agility & other trials. Our Danes are all CGC temperament tested, and are working, certified TDI therapy dogs of even disposition. All are also CHIC-level health certified with OFA hip, heart, thyroid, & CERF, plus DNA certified, ‘chipped, annually vet’d & bred with a goal of healthful longevity.
Our priority in breeding is to preserve the quality of the breed and always strive to produce the best puppies possible. Before we breed our Danes they are screened for any health problems. Quality not quantity is our desire. Right from the start we integrate our puppies into our family life. Socialization and interaction at an early age ensures a happy well adjusted puppy. If you choose a puppy from us we will always be available should you have any questions or concerns. Our caring doesn’t stop when your puppy leaves its birth home.
I started in Danes in 1992 with the intention of devoting a large portion of my life and priorities to becoming not only a breeder / enthusiast, but a true advocate of the breed’s style, temperament, health, and quality. I’ve run across so many websites with folks claiming to breed quality, not quantity, with health, temperament and breed type their goals, only to be saddened by the pictures they claim represent these traits in Danes. Thus many years ago, I asked myself how am I different. What should I do to have tangible evidence that I produce dogs that represents breed standard, quality, exceptional temperament, and above average health.
AKC Breeder of Merit, breeding Champion Harlequin, Mantle, and Merle Great Danes for service, show, performance, and companion homes. We breed for smart minds and even temperament which allow an ‘off leash” lifestyle where owners can count on their dogs to be trustworthy and trainable in all environments. Our dogs live in our home and puppies are raised underfoot with full exposure to our adult dogs, other animals, and day to day life. They are handled continuously, and raised under professional socialization programs beginning at birth. These utilize exposure to different people, animals, sights, and sounds as designed to prepare puppies for Medical Service Dog work, the Show Ring, and living harmoniously side by side with their owners.
Our Great Danes are AKC Certified and are truly great pets. We raise our dogs inside our home with our three children. Each of our dogs has a wonderful, unique personality that makes them great pets. We specialize in the breeding of Blue and Black Great Danes.
We live and hand raise our puppies here on a farm in South Alabama. We have been raising Great Danes for over 21 years & have loved every minute of it ! There is no way that our babies can be more socialized than they are. Even though we do Not Keep All of Our Danes Inside…that being said …We have Large Kennels and a Huge indoor kennel.

One that has the beauty and structure to win in conformation along with possessing the brains to do anything and everything else, obedience, tracking, and agility. Health and temperament is very important to us and we do health checks on all dogs before they are bred. We raise and train fawn and brindle great danes exclusively. We are devoted to the improvement of the health and welfare of our breed. We have produced or owned 53 American Champions and 13 Canadian Champions, 28 International titles, 41 performance titles and 3 dogs to be Best In Specialty winners to date.

Welcome to DanLea Farms, breeders of the finest in AKC Registered Show or Pet Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds. Our dogs are bred from a wonderful loving country home in Clayton, Indiana. We have over 30 years of professional breeding experience (no line breeding, champion stock).
Our Great Danes may appear a bit different to what you are used to seeing. Many breeders today are going for a more elegant and refined look while we prefer the “old fashioned”, large boned Danes. We have introduced European blood into our lines to bring forward the heavy bone, larger head and lips, and also the more confident personality of the Euro Danes. There are many countries in Europe with beautiful Danes but our preference is toward the type produced commonly in France and Italy primarily.
My Danes have it pretty well around here. We all live on a small farm growing corn, soybeans, and wheat, also have a pick-your-own asparagus, strawberry, and black raspberry market in April, May, and June of each year. The Danes and Halsey have access to all areas on the property. They are all house broken and we have regular sleepovers. If they’re just too doggone dirty after a day of doing dog stuff, then all sleepovers are canceled until I get a chance to clean them up. There back-up quarters are in my farm shop. It has radiant floor heat and AC, I keep it around 64 degrees in the winter and 75 degrees in the summer and they have a 4’ X 6’ plush carpet pad to sleep on. I have another barn that I’m converting into “Dane Suites”. It’s a work-in-progress.
We try to be as responsible as possible and do everything within our power to ensure that our dogs do not end up abandoned on the street or in a dog shelter. Each of our pups go home to the new family with a basic contract. This contract protects both the buyer and breeder and outlines how the pup is to be cared for, agreements between the buyer and breeder for re homing the pup if necessary, and the breeders commitment to the buyer to stand by the quality and health of the pup. If a breeder does not offer a contract, perhaps you should question why…
